Valtair is a pedigreed sailing yacht built in aluminium in 1996 in Melbourne, Australia. She had entered in many races in Australia under the cruising class and earned her line honours in the Sydney-Hobart Race of 2001.
The owners bought Valtair in late 2002, and was extensively refitted and refurbished from the bare hull to new riggings and sails. It took nearly two years in Brisbane to re-commission Valtair. As much as further tons were added from her minimum weight ratio for pure racing to suit the present cruising needs of modern comfort such as generator, air conditioning system, watermaker, additional fuel and water tank, furling boom, music and video entertainment centre and a host of other creative comfort furniture and easy navigational equipment. Valtair has twin S-Drive engines, retractable keel, sonar and bow thruster for maneuvering in a tight spot. All safety equipment is on board to meet the international sailing safety standards.
There are five double cabins on Valtair: two at Fore (front) for the crew, one at mid section and two at Aft (rear). The two Aft cabins shared a head (bathroom), the mid section has attached head, the rear two share in between head. Valtair can accommodate ten people, four for crew and six for guests and if the owner would be on board, she can take two couples as guest.
A large saloon cum-dining at mid section offers panoramic view and similarly the cockpit can be used for lounging and outdoor dining under shade of the bimini.
With all the hydraulic and automatic equipment on board, Valtair can be sailed easily with minimum crew. However, she has been provided with two permanent staff of husband, skipper and wife mate and with two other lucky volunteers that would be recruited on board from time to time.
