Construction Notes: The original hull would have been an open decked double ended traditional East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia Fishing boat of the type commonly known as the “Terengannu Bedor”. These craft were originally built with no metal connections to the hull. The strakes of planking forming the hull were fastened to the side frames and longitudinal intercostals by ½” wooden dowels while the strakes were fastened to adjacent strakes by similar wooden dowels spaced some 4” to 6 inches apart. When first built, the caulking between strakes would have been derived from strips of tree bark which would expand when in contact with water thus rendering the seams water-tight. With the addition of the Ballast Keel stainless steel bolts were first introduced as fastenings in this particular hull and with the conversion of the craft into her present formation of a decked over Ketch Rigged yacht with coach roof and accommodation spaces further metal fastenings have been introduced. With the replacement of strakes of hull planking where necessary over the years, it has also been necessary to adopt more modern methods of fastenings, (i.e. metal fastenings). At present however approximately 80% of the strakes forming the hull are of wood with which the craft was originally built. The vessel spent most of her life at fresh water moorings at Kampong Aceh, Lumut, Perak, and has been regularly moored in sea water since 1990, when she was purchased by her present owner. She has been regularly slipped, the hull been freed of any marine growth and antifouling applied some three to four times a year all of her life and given similar maintenance could quite easily see out another 50 years. The current auxiliary diesel engine is the fifth to have been installed on board. The craft is very strongly built and has, on a number of occasions since 1990 seen the current owner through some hairy weather conditions, including a couple of occasions when seas of from 15 to 20 ft. were encountered and has come through with flying colours each and every time. Note: This vessel is offered for sale "As is where is" delivery charges being for the account of the purchaser.
